Family Involvement / Volunteering
Our school believes that family involvement plays an important role in building a strong sense of community and sense of belonging.
Parents, grandparents, and caregivers can become involved with our school through becoming a Volunteer, or nominating for a School Board position.
Become a Volunteer
We encourage parents, grandparents, and guardians to volunteer their support in the following ways:
- Listening to Reading
- Supervising at Sports Carnivals
- Attending Excursions

Volunteer Requirements
St Mary Magdalene’s School is responsible in ensuring that all volunteers are properly trained and accredited, as the safety and wellbeing of our children is paramount.
Becoming a volunteer at SMM is free, and consists of the following steps:
- Complete the Mandatory Child Protection training “Responding to Abuse and Neglect”
- Obtain a WWCC (Working with Children Check), as required by Catholic Education and in accordance with the Child Protection Guidelines.
- Participate in our Induction Course
- RAN Training for Volunteers
Please do not feel overwhelmed! Our Front Office staff is happy to assist you in obtaining what’s required to become a volunteer at our school.
