Assessment and Reporting

We aim for our assessment and reporting practices to reflect many dimensions of students learning and development including skills, values, attitude, and habits of mind.

Assessment procedures provide information to the:
  • teacher as a way of informing planning and programming,
  • student about achievement and growth areas,
  • parent/caregiver about student development, and
  • school for future planning.
Assessment information is recorded by:
  • Anecdotal records
  • Observation grids
  • Checklists
  • Unit summaries
  • Audio, video recordings and digital photos
  • Student self-assessment notes
  • Annotated responses
  • Collections of work samples
  • Rubrics
Formal Reporting takes the form of:
  • Meet & Greet (Term 1)
  • Learning Conversation (Term 2)
  • Written Report (Semester 1)
  • Meetings between parents/caregivers and teachers as required
  • Written Report (End of Year)

What our community has to say about us...

I like this school because we respect, honour and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and traditions.

SMM Student

The school community is very accepting and inclusive.

SMM Family

I like St Mary Magdalene's because my children get a good education in a diverse, safe, and happy learning environment.

SMM Family

My daughter has benefited from the dedicated staff and safe learning environment. As a parent it is reassuring and a great feeling to know that your child is happy and learning!

I researched many local schools before choosing St Mary Magdalene’s School for my two sons. The reason why I chose this school is because of how confident and learned the graduating students were and I wanted that for my sons. I liked the fact that teachers had ESO support in the classroom. I also liked that it was a small school with secure fencing around the boundaries.
