Newsletter, Week 1, Term 4 2025
Welcome Back
Dear Families
Hello and welcome back to Term 4. It is hard to believe that we are here already – time certainly has a knack of flying by. We have an action-packed term ahead full of rich learning experiences and school wide events. We hope that the school holiday break allowed you all to spend time with loved ones, recharge the batteries and prepare for a busy 9 weeks. We are thrilled to have Ms Michelle Menadue back with us after her well-deserved Long Service Leave. We also wish Ms Eldi Yzel good luck as she takes over in Year 3/4.
Hats…
As has been mentioned in previous newsletters and via SeeSaw, it is essential that your child has a hat at school each day. Our SMM Bucket Hat is available at Lowes within the Elizabeth City Centre. Please do not send your students with caps or other styled hats. With the beautiful spring weather this week the UV rating is already extremely high. Students who do not have hats will be asked to play under sheltered areas during break time.
Staff Development….
On the final Friday of Term 3, our staff engaged in an interactive session with the team from the Berry Street Education Model. This program is designed to help staff meet the educational and well being needs of our students with key areas of focus. Our most recent focus is the importance of teacher-student relationships. Teacher-student relationships are critical to healthy child development and their overall success rate at school. We encourage you to talk to your child about their relationship with their teacher.
Catholic Schools Choir
What a treat it was to go along to the Convention Centre in Week 10 of last term to watch our students sing on stage. We thank Ms Rosemarie Villano for her hard work in preparing out students across the majority of this year. A special mention to Angelina who sung her solo with confidence. We are so proud of everyone who took to the stage.
Enrolments 2026 and beyond
We are still accepting enrolments for 2026! If you have younger children ready to start school next year, or know friends and family looking for a fantastic school community, we’d love to welcome them.
Word of mouth is one of the best ways to grow our school, so please spread the word to those who might be interested. If you have siblings who need to enrol, we kindly ask that you do so as soon as possible to help with planning.
We’re proud of our caring, inclusive environment and the wonderful learning experiences we offer—let’s keep building something special together!
Term 4 is busy….
Another reminder that Term 4 has a lot of events planned. Below is a list of key dates that may be of interest to you as we move towards the end of the school year. These were also published in the last newsletter of Term 3.
Community Garden….
Some of our students were very excited to return to school and harvest the potatoes they have been growing. These students will be offering these potatoes to our families for a small donation on Friday afternoon. Look out for the “Spud Stall” in Nelson’s Grove. Please bring some small change if you would like to purchase some school grown spuds.
2026 Planning…
Early planning for 2026 is already well underway. Our Leadership Team and staff will spend many hours planning class structures and giving careful consideration to student needs. Please feel free to make an appointment with a member of the Leadership Team if you would like to have a conversation relating to your child. Please do not ask teachers for certain requests relating to 2026 as their mindset continues to focus on providing your child with an exciting and engaging remainder of 2025.
Soon you will receive a form asking you to reply with your intentions for next year. This is very important. Please fill this form out as soon as possible and return it to the Front Office via your child’s teacher. This form helps us to clarify our student numbers for next year, as well as plan for future enrolments.
Bandanna Day…
On Thursday 30th October (Week 3) our school will celebrate Bandanna Day. On this day we are encouraged to think about, and stand in solidarity with all those who have been impacted by cancer. Many people are affected by cancer whether it be directly or indirectly and through support we can help them find strength and hope. If you would like to support this event, Ms Cassie will be selling bandanna’s in Nelson Grove every day after school throughout Week 3. A bandanna costs $7 and can be paid for via cash or card. All donations go towards helping people impacted by cancer.
Come Say Hi…
We are looking forward to seeing you all when we are out on yard duty before and after school. Don’t be shy to come over for a chat at school drop offs and pick ups. With a busy term ahead, we can’t wait to work with you all to give your child/children a wonderful end to 2025.
Shaping our future together,
Belinda and Gareth
